Reverse Logistics Exploitation: Returns Fraud
The articles cover retail loss, cargo theft, returns management and loss-prevention technology, but give headlines only, with no data showing returns fraud or shoplifting rising or loss-prevention spending surging. The IHL/Sensormatic research says retail loss extends beyond external theft, which slightly weakens a theft-driven thesis, but it does not show loss rates falling or flat as the falsification criteria require. Most articles also date from after the six-month window ending around June 2026, which further limits their value as evidence.
This is disconfirmed if retailer loss rates from returns fraud and shoplifting fall or stay flat, or if there is no increased adoption of fraud-detection and reverse-logistics technology over the period.
