Automotive Stagnation: Opportunity Knocks
Legacy automakers do look strained: Chinese EV price competition is hitting incumbents, Hyundai's European sales fell 13%, and China's domestic car sales are declining. That partly supports the stagnation premise and does not meet the 'legacy automakers stabilize or grow' half of the falsification criteria. But the disruptive EV opportunity looks shaky, with EV sales plummeting in the US and global EV sales falling in September, and no article shows distressed dealership acquisitions or conversions to EV models. The core disruption thesis is therefore unconfirmed and leaning negative.
What would prove this wrong
Legacy automakers stabilize or grow within six months and distressed dealership acquisitions or EV-conversion activity fail to materialize.
